Pinot Noir is a popular red wine that is loved by most elite wine drinkers and experts. The name comes from its type of grape. There are many vineyards of this grape type; and there are an increasing number of producers of Pinot Noir in the past decade. As a matter of fact, Pinot Noir is one of the oldest types of grapes in the world. Its taste and aroma have greatly improved thus making it one of the most favored wines.
Historically, it was the Romans who first cultivated this kind of grape back in the First Century. After which, this was firstly introduced to America with the purpose of having more producers. Pinot Noir is prevalent in the State of California. As years go by, it has grown in many parts of the world.
Pinot Noir has a soft and sweet taste like raspberries and cherries. It is easy to be paired with different kinds of familiar dishes that contain meat, cheeses and salads. Because of its versatility, it is now widely sold in various bottle shops, stores, online sellers worldwide.
Here is a list of Pinot Noir wines that you will surely like:
Argyle Reserve 2008
The key words for this wine are balance and grace. It is rose petal-powered red fruit with cherry and raspberry aromas. The mouth-feel is seductive and creamy textured with red fruit, spice, and violet floral-perfumed flavors.
Bay of Fires 2011
It has a brilliant purple colour. It displays sweet, ripe strawberry aromas, coupled with complex Chinese spice and cinnamon nuances. The palate is elegant and supple, with remarkable power, intensity and length. Overall, this wine has wonderful poise and balance.
Brancott Estate Marlborough 2011
The fruit in this wine comes mainly from across Marlborough, with small amounts from other regions, creating a consistent benchmark Pinot. Bright red cherries and summer berries characterise the fruit, highlighted by aromas of dried herbs. The sweetness of the fruit is balanced by firm tannins and a streak of taught acidity. This is best with a mushroom risotto or pasta dish.
Capel Vale Debut 2011
The fruit is quite ripe but the flavour shows nice aromatics and the palate is not overly hot. This represents excellent value for pinot. This pretty wine has strawberry/raspberry characters with grassy and gamy nuances. These tannins are smooth and soft.
De Bortoli Windy Peak 2012 Yarra Valley
The fruit for this blend is grown mainly in Dixons Creek, Tarrawarra and Yarra Glen with a small amount of upper Yarra fruit. The grapes are both hand and machine harvested with a percentage of the hand harvested used for whole bunch inclusion. A combination of winemaking techniques is used to produce a final blend with complexity and balance.
Devils Corner 2012
It has a strongly perfumed style redolent of spicy black cherry, dark fruits and hints of raspberries. The wine displays a juicy, sweet-fruit middle palate with soft, ripe tannins and fresh acidity. This Pinot Noir is brightly coloured with youthful purple tones. This delicious cool-climate Tasmanian Pinot Noir can also be cellared confidently for up to three years.
EsseNZe Central Otago 2011
It has a ripe dark fruited aroma with some bright spice and earthy notes. It has rich, supple flavours of black cherry and plum, spice, mineral and some savoury meatiness. Tannins are fine and ripe, with nice acidity.
Kim Crawford Marlborough 2011
It is a fine combination of dark cherries and red fruit abound. This is a velvety wine with rich flavours and soft tannins. Lean meats such as veal, venison or turkey will taste great with this wine.
Macrostie Sonoma 2009
It has a very dark garnet color. This Pinot is juicy and ripe, lush and full. The nose is caf mocha and purple plums, and it's very plush and rich in the mouth, with black cherry and chocolate flavors.
Stoneleigh Marlborough 2010 Pinot Noir
It has a deep, ruby red hue with a fragrant bouquet of red plums, raspberry and black cherry overlaid with integrated oak spice. The palate shows ripe, red berry fruit and cherry flavours with lingering fruit sweetness.
