The 2015 Chardonnay La Carriere, from Dijon and Hyde clones, exhibits exceptional minerality, great concentration, tangerine oil, marmalade and citrus blossom. White currants also make an appearance in this super-concentrated wine, which is about one-third less production than in 2014.

Wine Tasting Notes
Terroir-driven minerality remains the hallmark of this vineyard, with aromas of brioche, toasted almond, dry honey, white vine rose, jasmine, hazelnut and William pear. The nose is dominated by aromas of mandarin orange, acacia, hazelnut and William pear. Accents of royal jelly and vanilla complete the elegant bouquet. Citrus oils, white peach and lemon highlight the minerality. Wonderfully concentrated and elegant on the palate, the wine is sculpted, rich, intense and creamy. The 2015 La Carrière is enjoyable now and will continue to develop for a decade.

The blockbuster 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve Speciale has an inky purple color and notes of graphite, charcoal, blackberry fruit, cassis, and a touch of spice box. It is full-bodied, opulent, and a killer example of Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon. It should drink well for at least another 20 years. (Issue Date 27th Aug 2015, Source 220, The Wine Advocate)

Rich, enticing and complex from the first swirl, this wine opens with aromatics of black cherry, black berry, toast, and creme de cassis. These notes gracefully introduce the palate with a harmonious blend of plump berry fruits, notes of cedar, and well integrated tannins on the long, lingering finish.

(the first vintage of Insignia made with some Malbec; from a late harvest providing long hang time): Dark red-ruby. Dark nose offers inviting notes of cassis, black cherry, cocoa powder, leather and game; the first of these wines to show a strong floral element. Juicy, gripping and extremely complex, with a beautiful sugar/acid balance contributing to the impression of inner-mouth spine and energy. A wonderfully elegant, European-styled Insignia that conveys outstanding flavor intensity and depth without any impression of weight. Finishes with suave tannins and terrific length. This still-youthful wine should continue to gain in complexity. (Stephen Tanzer)
